Synopsis: Akriet (Misbegotten) is an internationally acclaimed film about the superstition and blind faith in rural India. The film is based on the real life incident of the Manwat mass murders where five girls were sacrificed to appease an evil spirit lodged in a tree. A corrupt man wants to get rich quick and his equally unscrupulous mistress wants a child. She embarks on the ritual of sacrificing five maidens for the fulfillment of their goals. Crisp pace and suspense mark this highly praise thriller.
